"As a neuropsychologist, I know that many people need clarity and reassurance — not always more testing. Good cognitive care is about understanding the issues, knowing when reassurance is enough, when monitoring is useful, and when further assessment is truly needed."

Su-Lin Yii (Clinical Neuropsychologist & Founder)
the story of CogniScreen.
CogniScreen was founded by Su-Lin Yii, a Clinical Neuropsychologist with over ten years’ experience working across extensive public and private health services in Australia and the United Kingdom.

Su-Lin has practiced as a Clinical Neuropsychologist since 2015, with experience spanning stroke services, community and inpatient neurorehabilitation, behavioural units, acute care, charity hospitals, paediatric units, diagnostic clinics, medicolegal and private practice. She is currently the Clinical Lead for Adult Services at CapacityPlus in Melbourne. Prior to this, she was the Principal Lead Psychologist for both the Stroke and Neurorehabilitation Units at St George’s NHS Hospital, London; leading neuropsychological services within a large tertiary teaching hospital. She was also on the executive committee for Acquired Brain Injury for London (ABIL).

In her experience, it is clear that many referrals for comprehensive neuropsychological assessment ultimately lead to reassurance: cognitive functioning is within expected limits, and difficulties can often be easily managed, usually through understanding. While this reassurance is valuable, it often requires significant time, cost, and assessment burden to reach.

Equally important is identifying the smaller proportion of people for whom more detailed assessment or specialist input is genuinely indicated. Having structured cognitive information early often helps guide appropriate referrals and next steps.

CogniScreen was founded in response to this gap — to provide a clinically meaningful assessment that helps answer common questions about memory and thinking, supports monitoring over time, and assists with appropriate referral when further assessment is needed.

CogniScreen is designed to sit between brief cognitive screening tools and comprehensive neuropsychological assessment. It does not replace specialist evaluation where this is required, but offers a practical, evidence-informed option that supports clarity, monitoring, and informed referral decisions earlier in the care pathway.
